Dialogue between Orthodox Christians and Muslims in the Balkans - 1 (1920-1958), 2 (1958-1990), 3 (1990-1997), 4 (1998-2009)

The texts of deacon Aleksandar Praščević Ph.D., published in four books, Dialogue between Orthodox Christians and Muslims in the Balkans, are the result of scientific research on the contribution of Serbian patriarchs Dimitrije, Varnava, Gavrilo, Vikentije, German and Pavle to the dialogue between Orthodox Christians and Muslims in the period 1920-2009 and their coexistence in the Balkans. Author encountered a difficult task, since the topic of dialogue between Christians and Muslims in the mentioned framework was scientifically treated for the first time. The particular significance of the books is the written correspondence between Serbian patriarchs and leaders of the Islamic community. Author had at his disposal first-hand sources, documents from the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, the Holy Synod of Bishops and several Dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Inter-religious tension is always present in the public, in many historical circumstances the coexistence of Christians and Muslims was threatened as a result of political unrest. The book indicates that the patriarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church did everything in their power to overcome conflicts and bad interfaith relations between Orthodox Christians and Muslims.
